Introduction to A Frightening Dream in the Qing Palace: The Phoenix Takes Flight

A Frightening Dream in the Qing Palace: The Phoenix Takes Flight is a gripping palace drama that blends romance, intrigue, family feuds, and power struggles within the imperial court, painting a sweeping portrait of life in the Qing palace.

The story follows the heroine, Su Yao. She once enjoyed the emperor's favor in the harem, but her peaceful life is shattered by a series of sudden events. First, Consort Ning's curse from the Cold Palace foretells a looming crisis. Then the emperor suddenly collapses in the imperial garden, setting off a storm of upheaval in the harem.

After the emperor collapses, Su Yao faces suspicion and slander from all sides. Noble Lady Li, Consort Wan, and others seize the opportunity to accuse her, claiming she is a suspect in the emperor's attempted murder. The harem's power struggles escalate in an instant. But Su Yao refuses to be defeated by their malice. She is determined to uncover the truth and prove her innocence, while hoping the emperor will recover soon.

As her investigation deepens, Su Yao discovers a vast conspiracy lurking behind it all. She learns by chance that her family has been implicated in a case involving evidence of crimes linked to the remnants of the previous dynasty, and it is clear someone has set them up. This plot threatens not only her position in the harem and her family's safety, but may also destabilize the entire imperial court.

As she searches for the truth, Su Yao discovers the existence of a mysterious organization. Its members operate in secret and use a black mandala flower as their mark. They collude with merchants in the capital, secretly gathering evidence of crimes against Su Yao's family and spreading rumors in both the harem and the imperial court to sow chaos.
