Everyone said Shen Yuanzhi had received lots of love letters. She turned to Shi Chuci, who was working on his problems, and said, “Isn't it strange? Everyone says I've received loads of love letters, but I've never seen a single one.” Without looking up, Shi Chuci replied coolly, “Maybe they mistook someone else's letters for ones addressed to you. Don't take it to heart.” Shen Yuanzhi shrugged. “I haven't received any, so I can't be bothered to worry about it.”
Ever since Shi Chuci and Shen Yuanzhi became desk mates, he started receiving several times more love letters than before. After class, he would pull them out of his desk without changing expression, never even glance at them, and toss them straight into the trash.
Watching Shi Chuci throw away the letters, Shen Yuanzhi couldn't resist teasing him. “You're so heartless. You're tossing away all those girls' feelings just like that.”
Shi Chuci rolled his eyes at her. “If you like them, you can have them.”
Shen Yuanzhi shook her head repeatedly. “No. I already have someone in my heart.”
