Fogbound Mountain City

The story takes place in Chongqing after the victory in the War of Resistance against Japan, as civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party looms. Chongqing, then the provisional capital, was a web of competing forces, with intelligence agencies such as the Military Statistics Bureau operating in full force. The Sichuan Army, too, was divided by factions and differing loyalties. Lin Fangjun, the protagonist, is a steadfast underground Communist Party member who engages his enemies in a thrilling espionage battle across Chongqing. Yan Hong is a woman of complicated origins, caught between the Military Statistics Bureau and the Communist Party. Her choices will shape the course of the entire story.
