The female protagonist, Xue Yao, comes from a mysterious cultivation sect. Though she has powerful backing and abundant resources, she longs to explore the path of cultivation freely. Kind, clever, independent, and beautiful, she has a fresh and refined air. After leaving her sect, Xue Yao meets Yun Yi, and the two endure hardships together.
Along the way, they face attacks from all kinds of monsters, including Chaos Beasts and Soul-Eating Demons, and become entangled in numerous conflicts with the ten great sects, such as the Lingxuan Sect, the Beast Taming Sect, and the Swordheart Sect.
