Synopsis

The War of Resistance Against Japan was a magnificent epic of a Chinese nation that refused to yield and fought through bloodshed.

In the 1930s, Japanese imperialists sought to conquer China by force and launched a series of wars of aggression. In 1931, the September 18 Incident broke out. Japan occupied China's Northeast, beginning its invasion of China. Thereafter, the Japanese invaders grew ever more ambitious and continued expanding their aggression.

Faced with Japan's ruthless invasion, the Chinese people rose up in resistance. From the Northeast Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army fighting through bloodshed, to the Chinese army's determined defense during the January 28 Shanghai Resistance; from the fierce fighting in the Great Wall Campaign to the outbreak of full-scale resistance after the July 7 Incident.

During the Battle of Shanghai, Chinese soldiers used their own bodies to withstand the Japanese army's fierce assault, shattering Japan's arrogant plan to conquer China in three months. After the defense of Nanjing failed, the horrific Nanjing Massacre shocked the world and further ignited the Chinese people's determination to resist Japan.

Throughout the grueling years of resistance, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party cooperated to fight their common enemy. The victory at Pingxingguan shattered the myth that the Japanese army was invincible, while the victory at Taierzhuang greatly boosted the morale of soldiers and civilians across the country. As the war progressed, Chinese soldiers and civilians established widespread anti-Japanese base areas behind enemy lines and waged guerrilla warfare, dealing heavy blows to the Japanese army.

The Hundred Regiments Offensive demonstrated the formidable fighting strength of the anti-Japanese forces led by the Communist Party of China. After the war entered a stalemate, Chinese soldiers and civilians continued to resist tenaciously, overcoming one hardship after another and persevering in the fight.

After the Pacific War broke out, the Chinese theater became part of the world's anti-fascist war

It's really good. I've kept it on my bookshelf and couldn't bring myself to delete it. The story may be a little slow-paced, but it's perfect for settling down and reading.
