[Tsundere beauty and top student Nan Qiao vs. gentle, handsome academic ace Mu Jin]

[Childhood friends + never getting sick of each other + love grows over time + equally matched leads + a little angst]

Scene One: Mu Jin was barely a head taller than Nan Qiao when she threw him over her shoulder. He lay on the ground for a while, then got up clutching his back. A flush crept over the handsome boy’s face as he scoffed coldly, “Nan Qiao, a girl like you will probably never find a husband.”

“None of your business. If I can’t find one, my dad will support me! Ha! You can’t take losing, Mu Jin. I grew up with my dad at the police station, and I didn’t earn the title of Sanda champion for nothing.”

Scene Two: Mu Jin followed his mother into the mourning hall and immediately saw Nan Qiao. Clad in plain white mourning clothes, she looked even more forlorn. She knelt there in silence, like a white peony battered by a storm, desolate and disheveled.

When she saw them approach, Nan Qiao stood. She was extraordinarily composed with the guests, but as Mu Jin watched her hug his mother, her shoulders trembled faintly. His heart ached, and his eyes stung, so he turned away.

He wanted so badly to pull her into his arms and tell her, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here!”

Their eyes met. Mu Jin couldn’t hold back any longer and gently hugged her. “I’m sorry for your loss, Nan Qiao.”
