An alternate history: In 1840, after the Bandit King interrupted the Ming dynasty’s succession, the efforts of two Southern Ming rulers brought the Ming back to the Central Plains. After three generations of wise emperors, the Ming dynasty finally eliminated the Jianzhou Jurchens and brought stability to the Southern Seas.
Yet two hundred years later, the empire still could not escape the three-hundred-year curse. As rule weakened in the dynasty’s final years, peasant rebellions flared at home, while wolves and tigers prowled beyond its borders, even though the dynasty had already completed its first Industrial Revolution.
After transmigrating, Zhu Youyu looked at the crumbling dynasty and resolutely launched reforms and a revolution. History must not repeat itself.
