Out of Control, Tangled in Passion

Three years ago, Lin Ruan was a college student just starting out in the working world. The first time she saw the dazzling, refined Gu Jingyan, she fell for him. Knowing they came from completely different worlds, she never dared reveal how she felt.

But the man sought her out himself and asked her to date him.

Already deeply in love with him, how could Lin Ruan refuse? Winning her heart took no more than a smile.

After three years together, Lin Ruan felt as if she were living in a honey jar. Gu Jingyan treated her well, but an invisible, insurmountable barrier always seemed to separate them. He wouldn't let her reveal their relationship in public, and he had never introduced her to his family. At the company, they were strictly superior and subordinate. Only at home, behind closed doors, would they embrace and kiss. Lin Ruan didn't know if their relationship was normal, but she loved Gu Jingyan too much to care. Even if things stayed this way, she was happy to accept it, without complaint or regret.

Until she discovered she was nothing more than another girl's substitute, while the man had always kept his one true love in his heart.

At a banquet, Lin Ruan went in place of a servant to deliver a fresh suit to Gu Jingyan. She happened to see him entangled with the woman he loved. She froze. How could a substitute ever compare to the woman buried in his heart? There was no need to compete. She had already lost completely.

Lin Ruan wasn't the type to cling to someone who didn't want her. She packed her things and left with dignity.

When the man made no attempt to stop her, her heart finally died.

When they met again, the man begged humbly, “Ruanruan, will you come home with me?”

Lin Ruan rolled her eyes coldly. “I'm sorry, Mr. Gu, but I believe we're no longer together.”
