• The weakest wandering soul in the lowest depths of the Nether Abyss, without a name or consciousness. It has only the instincts to survive and devour, and is too weak to devour anything on its own. It can only passively absorb scattered fragments of remnant souls, and could be devoured by other wandering souls or dissipated by the Abyss's frigid energy at any moment. The protagonist's initial soul fluctuations are so faint as to be almost negligible, which allows him to avoid the attention of most of the powerful wandering souls in the Abyss's depths. His soul is gray-black in color, unlike ordinary wandering souls, which are pure white, and remnant souls, which are gray-white. This is the initial trait of an original remnant soul, though it is suppressed and cannot be revealed at first.
The catalyst for awakening: He accidentally drifts into the site where an ancient wandering soul fell, and devours a fragment of a remnant soul carrying a faint trace of consciousness. He awakens to self-awareness, remembers the instinctive equation "devouring = survival = strength," and names himself "You."
