It’s a straightforward romance, with the occasional plot development, but not much. Everything serves to move the romance forward. There’s no over-the-top melodrama, no substitutes or heart-ripping tropes, and they stay devoted to each other from beginning to end. (This story has a past-life-and-present-life setup, but begins in the present. The past-life plot is introduced later.)
