Li Zhizhi has always been slow to respond to romantic feelings, having little sense of romance.
Until the ninth grade, she was the cherished little girl her family held in the palm of their hand. Then her mother died, and before long, her father brought home a girl about her age. That was when she learned that her mother's devotion and love had long gone unappreciated.
Unwilling to live with them, she rented a place of her own and found a way to support herself.
At the start of the second semester of her senior year, she secretly transferred to a new school. On her first day, she called the class monitor a snake, and her father promptly froze her bank card. Then, through a bizarre twist of fate, she ended up living at the class monitor's house.
That very day, she sleepwalked and gave everyone a huge surprise.
Her dear big brother was left covered in bruises, and Cheng Jinchao, the snake she'd called out, was no exception.
Cheng Jinchao pointed to the scratches on his neck, afraid she might try to deny it. “What, you’re not going to own up to it?”
Li Zhizhi played dumb. “What happened to your neck? Did the family cat scratch you?”
Cheng Jinchao frowned and reluctantly admitted it.
As they spent more time together, he gradually realized that Li Zhizhi wasn't nearly as harmless as she seemed.
Her good-girl act was just an act.
