After Sun Wukong's soul was swept into the void by the chaotic energy in the Buddhist realm, he was reborn at the moment he had first leapt from the stone. He begins his new life in seclusion in a cave on Flower-Fruit Mountain, combining the experience and insights of his past life as he explores the path of cultivation anew and successfully breaks through to a new realm.
He then makes a deal with the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea in his own unique way and obtains the Golden Cudgel. Sun Wukong's growth attracts the attention of the Celestial Court, which sends troops to capture him. With his new staff techniques, he repels the heavenly soldiers and generals and storms the Heavenly Palace. His goal is no longer simply to rebel, but to rid the Celestial Court of its corruption.
