The story takes place in the capital in 1950. The protagonist, Lin Sheng, transmigrates and becomes the young He Yuzhu from Love in the Courtyard. Determined to escape the miserable fate he had in the original story, he cuts ties with the courtyard’s unsavory residents and creates a remarkable life of his own.
