Synopsis

Five thousand years of Chinese history make up an epic and magnificent chronicle.

The ancient land of China gave rise to the first glimmers of a brilliant civilization in prehistoric times. From the traces left by ancient humans such as Yuanmou Man and Peking Man to Neolithic cultures like Yangshao and Longshan, we see the wisdom and creativity of our ancestors.

During the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties, the state began to take shape. The Xia established hereditary rule, the Shang developed a highly advanced bronze culture, and the Zhou introduced the system of enfeoffment, laying the foundations of traditional Chinese culture. During the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, feuding states and competing schools of thought flourished. Confucianism, Daoism, Legalism, and other schools brought diverse vitality to the development of Chinese culture.

During the Qin and Han dynasties, China was unified. Qin Shi Huang conquered the other six states and established a centralized system of government. The Han dynasty was powerful and prosperous, opening the Silk Road and fostering frequent exchanges with other countries. Though warfare was common during the Wei, Jin, and Southern and Northern Dynasties, cultural integration continued to deepen.

China entered a golden age during the Sui and Tang dynasties, with enlightened politics, a thriving economy, and flourishing culture. The establishment of the imperial examination system created a new path for selecting talent. Science and technology advanced greatly during the Song and Yuan dynasties, and the Four Great Inventions had a profound impact on the world. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the feudal system began to decline, though achievements were still made in areas such as the economy and culture.

In modern times, China has endured many hardships. Faced with invasions by foreign powers, countless patriots rose up to resist and seek a path to national salvation. After a long and arduous struggle, the People's Republic of China was founded in 1949. Today, China is developing rapidly in the fields of economics, science and technology, culture, and more, advancing toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
