A History of Russia, Eighth Edition

A History of Russia (Eighth Edition) is one of the more influential and academically rigorous general histories of Russia published in recent years by English-language academic and educational circles.

The author, Nicholas Riasanovsky, is a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, with nearly half a century of experience teaching and researching the general history of Russia, including the Soviet Union. In a sense, A History of Russia is a culmination of his lifelong study, teaching, and research into Russian and Soviet history. While writing the book, Nicholas Riasanovsky took great care not to simply recount Russian and Soviet history, and made a point of introducing readers to a range of representative scholarly perspectives.
