"Appendices and Supplements" is Schopenhauer's final work in 1850. The title is a bit clumsy but the meaning is clear, that is, "Appendices and Omissions", divided into two volumes. Volume 1 is the appendix, including a brief history of idealism and realism, an essay on the history of philosophy, an essay on the philosophy of the university, an essay on fate, an essay on seeing ghosts and related things, and six articles on the wisdom of life. These subsequent supplementary philosophical essays are incidental to my more important, self-contained work, and contain both essays on quite special and distinct topics as well as scattered reflections and thoughts on a much wider variety of subjects. All these articles are collected together here mainly because they cannot be included in my systematic work because of their subject matter, and a few articles were written too late and never received their due place in that self-contained work.

This book is very interesting! It is like Schopenhauer's "Thinking Notes", with many short essays on philosophy, fate, ghosts and other topics. I especially like his discussion on the wisdom of life, which I find very inspiring. He said, "People are like hedgehogs in the cold winter. If they are too close to each other, they will feel stinging; if they are too far away from each other, they will feel cold." This sentence really vividly describes the relationship between people. I think this book is very suitable for reading slowly in your spare time. You will gain new insights every time you read it.
It is worthy of being a masterpiece created by a master of philosophy and the most profound insight into the philosophy of life.
