Zhen Qin, son of the lord of Yeyue City, gains a fortuitous opportunity after accidentally falling off a cliff during a storm, greatly increasing his strength. But when he returns to his family, he finds them facing a grave threat from Murong Mou, who plans to establish a royal court and annex the surrounding powers. The Zhen family is no exception.
Zhen Qin resolves to help his father resist the enemy, training hard until he breaks through to the Qi Ancestor realm. During his clashes with Murong Mou, he defeats powerful fighters including the Feng brothers. He later braves the dangers of the Evil Gu Islands to find a Kwai Water Primal Stone, reaching the Great Perfection of the Qi Ancestor realm. Murong Mou joins forces with a hundred clans and aristocratic houses to besiege Yeyue City, plunging the Zhen family into crisis. Working from within and without with his father, Zhen Qin uses his wits to drive back the powerful enemy and, with his family's support, establishes a royal court.
After becoming king, Zhen Qin continues to cultivate relentlessly and battles formidable foes such as the Murong family. He successfully survives the Forty-Nine Heavenly Tribulations and becomes a true cultivator. He later joins the Miyang Immortal Palace and takes part in a mission to repair the Corpse Origin Rift. Leading his disciples against powerful foes such as Bone Bees and the Immortal Bone King, he battles forces including the Lady of the Saha Path and the Supreme Path. He succeeds in repairing the rift and earns immeasurable merit. Yet his rise makes the various factions wary of him, and he faces even more challenges from the Supreme Path, Nan Huang Yi, and others. Zhen Qin defeats Nan Huang Yi and becomes the new leader of the Miyang Path.
As leader, Zhen Qin uncovers a plot by the demon race to invade and clashes with powerful fighters from all sides at the Star Dipper Sect. To seek greater power and uncover the mystery of his origins, he ventures into the Formless Realm and fights an earth-shattering battle with the Formless Ancestor. He later reincarnates as Li Yanmu. After countless cycles of reincarnation, Li Yanmu finally awakens as a Buddha and foils the Formless Ancestor's plot. Zhen Qin defeats all his enemies, reclaims control of his fate, and protects the royal court.
