"To sell the village's unsold pumpkins, I begged everyone I could think of and pulled every string I had. In the end, I still had to pay out of my own pocket to get all the village's pumpkins sold. The market price was one yuan and fifty cents per jin, but I raised it to two yuan. The extra fifty cents was my cut for helping them out. After all, you have to give something to get something.

But as soon as the villagers heard about it, the people who had seemed so kind turned on me and kicked over the pumpkins.

"Did all those years of schooling go to a dog's stomach? How dare you cheat the people of this village! You sold pumpkins that cost one yuan and fifty cents per jin for two yuan. Did you pocket all the extra money?"

"A mu of land yields 3,000 jin of pumpkins. That's an extra fifty cents per jin, and our village has hundreds of mu! Over a million yuan must have gone straight into your pocket! You just had to flap your lips to stuff our hard-earned money into your own purse. Are you even human?"

Looking at the villagers' malicious faces, I immediately made up my mind: from now on, I wouldn't buy any more melons from this village!

Sell them if you want, or don't!"
