Stop Trying to Talk Him Out of It, My Brother's Mind Can't Be Changed

My elder brother was the most talented scholar in the capital, yet he fell in love with a courtesan and wanted to marry her.

When our parents refused, he planned to elope with her.

I found out and, for the sake of his future, told our parents.

In a fit of rage, they beat the courtesan to death.

Later, my brother entered officialdom, became the top scholar, and eventually rose to the highest rank.

But I never imagined that he would blame me for the courtesan's death.

He framed my husband's family for conspiring against the court, and they were all executed.

I, too, was sent to a brothel, where I was humiliated night after night until I died.

Given a second life, I watched him elope with that woman and never interfered again.
