The Educated Youth’s Little Wife Is Born to Bear Children

My older sister and I were both rare women born with the ability to conceive easily. My sister married a poor farmer in the village and gave birth to five sons. Their family thrived, and they eventually escaped poverty and prospered. I married the well-off leader of the production team, but every child I had was a girl. My husband thought I had shamed him and beat me and my daughters to death. When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day the matchmaker came to arrange a marriage. I watched coldly as the production team leader, acting completely out of character, chose my older sister, whose legs were disabled. Then I realized he had been reborn too. He thought marrying my sister would mean having sons every time, but he didn't know he had a genetic disease and couldn't father boys at all. I pointed to the quiet, slender, down-and-out educated youth in the corner and declared, “I want to marry him!”
