The Busy Widowed Mother Making Money to Send Her Son to Become the Top Scholar

(Farming + building wealth + spirit spring + space + family life + food + business. A cozy, everyday story.) In modern times, Shi Wenrou lived to the age of eighty and died peacefully of old age. Her only regret was that she'd never had children, and never experienced the joy of a family. When she opens her eyes again, she's in an isolated village in ancient times, a young widow whose husband has just died and who gets pushed around by everyone! The widow is twenty-eight. Her mean mother-in-law bullies her, her unfilial eldest son drives her up the wall, and her newborn twins, a boy and a girl, are starving and on the brink of death! Wenrou smiles bitterly. Well, this is a disaster from the start! But she won't be beaten by this. If her mother-in-law bullies her, she'll split the household! If her eldest son won't listen, she'll teach him. If teaching doesn't work, she'll beat him. Spare the rod and spoil the child. The old wisdom of the ancestors must have some truth to it! Then she'll work hard to make money and raise the children, using her golden finger: spirit spring water that speeds up the growth of crops and makes them more delicious! She'll open shops and build workshops! Raise livestock and become a supplier to the imperial court! Once she's earned some money, the first thing she'll do is send her son to school and support his studies, so he can change the family's fortunes and become a top scholar! Wenrou's life flourishes, and her children grow up dutiful and sensible! When her wicked mother-in-law hears about it, she's so furious that she dies on the spot! But what Wenrou never expected was... A strange tale later spread through Huaiyuan County. The newly appointed magistrate was as refined as an orchid and as dignified as a tree, proper and composed. Yet who would have guessed that he'd fall for a widow with children and eagerly offer to be their stepfather? Well... that's right. The widow is her.
