Synopsis

The Art of War and The Thirty-Six Stratagems are outstanding examples of ancient Chinese military strategy and wisdom, and have had a profound influence on later generations.

The Art of War, written by Sun Wu, is one of the world's earliest military works. It covers every aspect of warfare, including strategy, tactics, military management, and intelligence gathering. Sun Tzu stresses that "know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated," emphasizing the importance of accurately assessing the situation and preparing thoroughly. The idea that "the supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting" reflects a profound understanding of the nature of war and a desire for peace. The wisdom of The Art of War is useful not only in military affairs, but also in business competition, political struggles, sports, and many other fields.

The Thirty-Six Stratagems is a remarkable work on military strategy that sums up the many schemes and tactics used in ancient Chinese wars and political struggles. Every stratagem contains profound wisdom and ingenious ways of thinking. For example, "Crossing the Sea Under a Deceptive Sky" emphasizes achieving one's aims through disguise and deception; "Besiege Wei to Rescue Zhao" demonstrates how attacking an enemy's weak point can resolve a crisis; and "Kill with a Borrowed Knife" shows the wisdom of using outside forces to strike at an opponent.

Both works value flexibility and innovation in strategy, and stress the need to devise appropriate countermeasures for each specific situation. They are not only guides to warfare and competition, but also important books for developing people's reasoning and decision-making skills.

In both ancient and modern times, people have continued to study and draw on the wisdom contained in The Art of War and The Thirty-Six Stratagems, and
