This book originates from "Philosophy: Death", one of the popular open courses at internationally renowned universities. In this easy-to-understand philosophical work, Professor Shelly Kagan challenges many views that we are accustomed to or have not thought about, inviting readers to systematically reflect on the philosophical mystery of death, explore the meaning of death with a clearer concept, from metaphysics to values, think seriously and rationally about the truth of life and death, and then lead us to explore the value of life and what attitude we should face the journey of life.
Professor Shelly Kagan says
Humans only have bodies and no souls. Eternal life is a bad thing, not a blessing. Suicide may be both rational and ethical under certain circumstances. Fear is an inappropriate response to death. Our common view of death is quite wrong.
The point is not that you ultimately agree with me;
But you think for yourselves.
The most important thing I have to do is,
You are invited to think rationally and seriously about life and death.

This book was very interesting and made me think more deeply about death. Just like Fugui in "Alive", even after experiencing so much suffering, he still lives tenaciously. Professor Kagan said that immortality may be a bad thing. This reminds me of the Tucker family in "The Fountain of Youth". Is it really good to live forever? The ideas in the book are novel and thought-provoking, making me cherish my current life even more. I think this book is worth reading, and you can check it out too.
Man is an optimistic material existence, he should not fabricate a void object that exists in himself - the soul!
I listened to and read this book, and it said that the mind and body are very funny, very humorous and very wise [top post]
