Blazing Summer Winds

A roguish, carefree bad boy & a well-behaved girl from a scholarly family Kang Lie is a roguish, carefree boy who lives freely, never sweating the small stuff. Like the wind, he refuses to be tied down. Chen Yu is a well-behaved girl from a scholarly family. She’s always been the good kid in everyone’s eyes: an excellent student, pretty, sweet, and sensible. But deep down, she yearns to be free, to break out of life’s constraints and be her true self. Kang Lie encourages her to break free, try new things, be herself, and live in the moment. He tells her, “Life isn’t just exams and grades. The world is vast, and there are many ways to succeed.” They make a youthful wager. He asks Chen Yu, “Do you dare go play games at an internet cafe instead of going to tutoring?” Chen Yu asks him, “Do you dare make the top ten in your grade?” They promise to get into Tsinghua together, but in the end, Kang Lie doesn’t make it. Chen Yu considers giving up Tsinghua to go to Guangzhou with him, but he refuses. Chen Yu goes to Beijing after all, while Kang Lie heads to Guangzhou. But fate plays a cruel trick: Kang Lie passes away. Only after his death does Chen Yu learn that he had loved her for many years, longer than she ever imagined. On the only photo they have together, taken from behind, she writes through her tears: “The years of golden youth, the years that flow like water.
