When people commit crimes, the police arrest them.

But who takes care of demons and ghosts that threaten the human world?

Xu Yiling is in charge of that.

After graduating from police academy, he joins the criminal investigation team at the West District Branch of Jinghai City.

On his first day, he shows off a little and catches a perverted serial rapist and murderer who had been on the run for twenty years.

On his second day, things get absurd: he catches a dog demon!

On the third day, they get even more absurd: he subdues a ghost king who has lived for a hundred years.

On the third day, things get completely ridiculous! He detains a thousand-year-old zombie!

The station chief is stunned, and his colleagues are dumbfounded.

“What on earth are these things?”

“They’re not human, so what charges can we file?”

“Xiao Xu, you really will arrest anything!”

Xu Yiling ignores the complaints and sends them to the detention center.

The ordinary inmates inside kick up a fuss!

“Why’d they put a dog in here? Is this place turning into a zoo?”

“Things may be rough in here, but damn it, they can’t lock me up with a pig!”

“Holy crap! You’re making me room with a zombie? I still have things to confess! Let me out!”

One day, the Tathagata’s uncle descended to the mortal world to commit crimes. Xu Yiling captured him and sent him to the detention center.

Not long afterward, an envoy from Spirit Mountain came to negotiate. “I have come to bail out the Golden-Winged Great Peng.”

Xu Yiling crossed his legs on the desk and replied bluntly, “Bail denied.”

The envoy was furious. “I represent Spirit Mountain! Release him!”

Xu Yiling didn’t back down. “I represent the righteous cause! Bail denied!”

The envoy tried to force open the cell.

Xu Yiling slowly drew his peachwood sword.

“I’d advise you to keep away from that lock.”

“Otherwise, I’ll use this sword to cut off your topknot!”
