On Tomb-Sweeping Day, my wife insisted on returning to the village with her first love to pay respects at the graves, kneeling and offering incense to his parents as their daughter-in-law.
I told my wife that my parents were close to death and urged her to come back quickly to see them one last time.
But she thought I was jealous and throwing a tantrum, and even told me to be more understanding.
"Can't you be more considerate of what it's like to be an orphan? You lie all the time. If you keep this up, we'll get divorced!"
Only after my wife returned from sightseeing with her first love and saw the memorial portraits displayed at home did she realize I hadn't lied to her.
