Xiyue, the Ugly Girl

A girl named Xi Yue was born in the countryside. After graduating from college, her face was covered in freckles and acne, her features badly marred, and she was overweight. Unattractive and unable to dress well, she was also very introverted. Right after graduation, she started working at a private hospital. Because of her looks, she had never dated anyone, even by the time she graduated, though she longed for romance. After starting work, she had two relationships, both of which left her deeply hurt. Both boyfriends looked down on her appearance. She also changed jobs several times and was even deceived by a classmate. Approaching thirty, she was still alone, and her career was going nowhere, so she made up her mind to take the graduate school entrance exam. After a year of working hard day and night, she was accepted. While in graduate school, she resolved to lose weight and underwent cosmetic treatments to remove her freckles and acne. By the time she graduated, she was in her thirties and had finally become beautiful, stunning the people who had once looked down on her. At thirty-seven, while working at a major hospital, she unexpectedly ran into the boy she had secretly loved since she was a teenager. He had become successful, but his marriage had failed. As they spent more time together, they fell in love and gradually became a couple.
