During the reign of Emperor Renzong of the Northern Song, someone comes to Kaifeng Prefecture to plead their case. Since the harem is where the consorts and ladies of the palace live, male constables cannot conveniently investigate there, so the prefecture decides to recruit female constables to enter the palace and solve the case. Liu Mingyue gets caught up in a murder, while Ouyang Shengnan hears that Kaifeng Prefecture is recruiting female constables and volunteers to serve the people. After joining the constabulary, the two begin training for palace investigations. They assist Bao Cheng, Zhan Zhao, and the others from Kaifeng Prefecture, and although one farce follows another, justice ultimately triumphs over evil.
