Every trouble, sorrow, and disappointment begins with ignorance. If you, too, have made mistakes out of ignorance, then when you read this book, you'll surely reflect and think, I should stop.
Family tragedy begins with ignorance. This is the story of how the feudal ignorance of one generation brings sorrow to generations to come. Sons are favored over daughters, and ignorance stunts emotional growth. A couple raises their daughter, a healthy child who rarely cries, as though she were disabled, treating her with contempt and discrimination and looking at her as an outcast.
As an adult, the girl sees only the good in people because of her own ignorance. She marries a selfish, hypocritical man who hides behind a false facade. Their married life becomes a living hell, with her reduced to something less than human. The man's family is desperately poor and utterly heartless. When the daughter-in-law gives birth, the mother-in-law pretends to be ill. The old woman, now in her eighties, is bullied by her daughter-in-law and eldest grandson's wife.
After the old woman passes away, the sister-in-law rallies the foolish younger members of the family to bully the outsider daughter-in-law, putting her down, discriminating against her, and showing her no respect.
There are financial disputes.
They belittle each other's education, deliberately cause trouble, and force one another to submit to their wishes. They betray their own family, and in the end the younger son and his outsider wife bear the worst of the oppression. There is domestic violence between the couple, people sowing discord, and violence within the family. They are always causing trouble at home. The father deliberately makes the child sick, bringing more sorrow. Later, the husband falls ill, and the family's livelihood and career are put at risk, leaving them unable to pay for the child's rehabilitation and care.
