This story was originally meant to cover many events over several decades in an alternate world, but that proved too difficult for a beginner. You could say it starts strong and loses steam: the opening setup is ambitious, but it gets too complicated, with too many ideas, and the later chapters can't keep up. Still, it does reach an ending.
