Turns Out, I’m the Villain Destined by Heaven!

In the supernatural horror instances, Ruan Bugui believed that even if he wasn’t the protagonist, he had to be a big shot. After all, he was the only one among the first batch of chosen players to clear an instance with an A rank. But when Yan Shi'an, sent by the Chinese authorities, used the hard-won experience of their fellow players to achieve an S-rank, damage-free clear, Ruan Bugui’s confidence took a hit. It was fine. They were both Chinese. He could put up with it. But was Yan Shi'an sent by heaven specifically to torment him? In their first clash, Yan Shi'an put Ruan Bugui on the moral high ground and forced him to hand over a batch of supplies. Ruan Bugui figured he still had a conscience, so he put up with it! In their second clash, they led teams into an instance at the same time. Yan Shi'an beat him to the first clear by three seconds. Ruan Bugui convinced himself that he was simply outmatched. He put up with it again!! But a gentleman always gets even. In their third clash, they entered an instance together. Ruan Bugui finally lost patience and lured the strongest boss over to Yan Shi'an, giving himself a satisfying chance to vent his spite. From then on, the two were at each other’s throats, each a thorn in the other’s side. Ruan Bugui thought Yan Shi'an was a fake saint, a hypocrite. Yan Shi'an thought Ruan Bugui was selfish and vindictive, the sort who never let a grudge go. Then Ruan Bugui made a mistake entering an instance and was on the verge of losing himself when Yan Shi'an broke through the instance and hauled him back, looking thoroughly annoyed. Ruan Bugui was baffled. “Why?” Yan Shi'an still looked annoyed as he stared at him. “You think I wanted to save you? If we were outside, I wouldn’t care if you died. But here, as long as you still consider yourself one of China’s chosen, I’ll save you. I came here to bring all of you home.” Ruan Bugui fell silent, then suddenly realized what had happened. Oh no. He’d become the villain!
