Yu Ling's father was a heavy drinker who would pretend to be drunk every time. Unable to endure the domestic abuse, her mother ran away one night.
Because her family was ordinary and she was too aloof, Yu Ling was bullied by her classmates. She put up with it again and again, until she finally couldn't take it anymore.
Scene one:
“Stop right there. Who splashed me just now?”
Ma Rulan smirked. “So what if I did, you drowned rat?”
Without changing expression, Yu Ling walked over, grabbed the girl with the loudest laugh, and shoved her into the sink. She turned on the tap and rinsed her head.
“You love playing with water so much? I'll make sure you get your fill.”
Scene two:
“Why? Why did you tear it up?” Yu Ling shouted. Why couldn't they leave her even one thing to hold on to?
“You dare yell at me? What do you need clothes like that for? Your mother is shameless, dressing like that so everyone knows who she's trying to attract!”
Yu Ling lowered her eyes to the scraps of fabric on the floor, consumed with fury. She flipped the table, sending the plates and food crashing to the ground.
“You call my mother shameless? Wearing something nice makes her shameless? Then what about your wife now? She dresses up like a peacock every day. Why don't you say that about her?”
