In the early Han dynasty, there were three immortals: Patriarch Bodhi, Buddha Tathagata, and the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha. Because they stood on different sides, each had their own path. Patriarch Bodhi possessed immense power but chose to retreat into the mountains. He had his own understanding and insights into immortal arts, and formed his own school. Buddha Tathagata was the supreme figure of Buddhism, while Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha ruled over the underworld. Each had little schemes and plans of their own. How would they clash in the arts of magic?
Patriarch Bodhi taught the child Yunlian to understand spiritual power and seek a pure heart at its source. When the outside world questioned him, he transcended the Six Realms and stood beyond the Five Elements.
Seeing Yunlian like this, Patriarch Bodhi was both annoyed and amused. He wrote the timeless Ode to Bodhi:
The body is a Bodhi tree, the mind a bright mirror stand. Polish it diligently, lest dust settle upon it.
Bodhi was never a tree, nor was the bright mirror a stand. Since nothing exists from the beginning, where could dust settle?
I like listening to this book very much
