Son Goku’s older brother Raditz arrives on Earth and reveals that Goku is actually a Saiyan, a member of a warrior race. Goku and Piccolo team up against him, but the difference in their power leaves them struggling. At a crucial moment, Goku’s son Son Gohan unleashes immense power and badly wounds Raditz. Goku ultimately decides to die alongside his opponent. When Raditz lets his guard down for an instant, Goku pins him from behind, allowing Piccolo to fire his Special Beam Cannon through both of them and defeat their foe. Before dying, however, Raditz reveals that his two even stronger Saiyan comrades have learned of his death through their Scouters and will invade Earth in a year.
