My name is Li Dao. I was an abandoned infant, left on a hillside. Fortunately, an old Daoist priest found me, saving me from being left to die in the mountains. He treated me well, teaching me to eat, get dressed, and read a few Daoist texts so we could make a living. (In truth, it was just a more respectable way of scamming people.)
One day, Li Dao wandered into a cave and discovered that he had entered another world. Here, the strong preyed on the weak, and ordinary people could not only walk on the ground but fly through the sky. Even the old oxen in the fields could cultivate and soar through the heavens, then burrow deep underground. Li Dao looked up at the sky and exclaimed, “So even oxen can fly now!”
