The Phoenix Contract

My master happened to obtain two eggs and told my junior sister and me to choose one each. My junior sister snatched the dazzling egg covered in golden light, leaving me the dull, lifeless one. Who could have guessed that her egg was stillborn, while mine hatched into a nine-tailed white fox unseen for a thousand years? I was showered with offerings from both the sect and Qingqiu. But the white fox only had eyes for my junior sister, who was born with a body suited for dual cultivation. It even drained every drop of my blood essence to save her. When I opened my eyes again, I had been reborn on the day we chose our eggs. Without hesitation, my junior sister picked the white fox's egg. I knew she had been reborn too. I smiled. What she didn't know was that the white fox had never been one to feel satisfied.
