A plague sweeps across the globe, turning 90% of Earth's population into zombies. Human civilization lies in ruins, and the money people used before the apocalypse is now worthless. Food and water, the keys to survival in the wasteland, have become the only hard currency. The few humans left flock to Alloy City, the only surviving city in the apocalypse. As its population grows, Alloy City is divided into two districts for the sake of control and administration: the Upper District, where the powerful live, and the slums, flooded with refugees. To entertain the city's elite, Alloy City hosts a survival game called the Deathmatch. The winner receives a vast supply of food and water, as well as the right to live in the Upper District. To feed his injured mother and young sister, the protagonist A Fei has no choice but to go to Skunk Town to collect free food. In retaliation for an earlier uprising, Alloy City's elite stop distributing food. A Fei then meets Old Chen, Huopao, Zhuhong, and others. After a series of twists and adventures, he ends up signing up for the Deathmatch by chance. He ultimately wins the competition, overthrows the city lord's tyrannical rule, and becomes the chosen one foretold in prophecy!
