After the Legitimate Son Set His Heart on Dying, His Family Regretted It

People say the Marquis of Weiyuan’s household dotes exclusively on its second son.

But after my elder brother returned to the capital, having spent ten years on the frontier,

everyone said he had suffered there in my place, and that I should atone for it.

So when he said there were no fragrant flowers on the frontier, my parents pulled out the medicinal plants in my courtyard.

My brother knew nothing of literature or art, so my younger sister destroyed all my books and paintings.

Even my fiancée accompanied my brother everywhere, making up for the ten years he had missed in the capital.

The slightest sign of reluctance earned me accusations of being coldhearted and selfish, of failing to respect my elder brother, and of deserving to die in apology long ago.

Fortunately, I truly don’t have long to live, and I no longer want to.
