Jiang Ketao graduated from a prestigious university in Shanghai and grew up in a family with healthy, ordinary parents who were nevertheless astonishingly cold and estranged from one another. Her parents were harsh and indifferent toward her, leaving her with an instinct to please everyone. Though she never knew why she had to do it, she went through life trying to please her romantic partners, her bosses, and her friends. Yet when she was alone, she often felt utterly exhausted and sick of people and the world. After enduring workplace bullying and a failed romance, and seeing what her friends' lives were really like, she began learning to make peace with herself and reconnect with her personality, her surroundings, and the world. Little by little, she found herself, discovered who she was, and learned to love herself, until she had enough love to give to others. This is a story of growth.
