To the Bitter Winter, Awaiting Spring

A celebrity’s easygoing little assistant who asks for nothing turns out to be the acclaimed screenwriter behind two hit dramas. In her fifth year of traveling the world, entertainment mogul Wan Xujun brings her back to the company to pursue her career. “Hey, I know you don’t want to write scripts.” “I’ve been saving your past script fees as your dowry. A woman should have a career of her own.” After helping a top-tier actor become a film emperor, she finds a romantic, beautiful love that offers them both salvation. Lying in bed, nestled together, Li Meihao confides in him in her soft, youthful voice: “Fu Ruyi, if I hadn’t met you...” “I don’t think I could ever have fallen in love with anyone again.” “I told you I’ve started looking forward to this winter. Every year before, as soon as winter came, my mind would automatically start counting down.” She describes her depression in an almost casual way: “My body stops obeying me.” “Good thing I have you this year. “Otherwise...” “I might never have been able to love another spring. I’d just be a living shell, keeping watch over dead wood and waiting, year after year.” Fu Ruyi’s heart gave a sharp pang. “Do you really feel that way?” Li Meihao nuzzled against him. “Mm.” “You cherish me, so of course I’ll stay by your side.”
