[Time Loop + Xuanhuan + Traditional Historical Romance + Scenarios + Cruel Romance] A novella
The story is told in first person, except for the scenarios, which use a third-person perspective.
Jiang Zhi, an immortal beast who serves food in the Shangyi Immortal Realm, is demoted to the Lower Xirang Realm to undergo a trial after knocking over a basket of peaches of immortality. She passes through a life as a courtesan's companion before rising to become a princess of the Raozhou Kingdom, only to die in prison after her country falls. Jiang Zhi dislikes this life, dull yet filled with twists and turns. But who could have guessed that this trial would repeat endlessly, with no end in sight?
To return to the Immortal Realm, Jiang Zhi tries every method she can think of. In the end, she focuses on the guard who has always stayed by her side and concludes that if he dies, the mortal storyline will reset, and everything will start over.
So she begins her struggle to break the trial. She can't die, and neither can he. But Jiang Zhi discovers that her loyal young guard, who has been by her side for years, is actually a prince of an enemy nation and the very person responsible for the destruction of her kingdom.
The events of the mortal realm are nothing more than a few strokes of a celestial official's pen. Jiang Zhi would rather return to Shangyi as soon as possible, so she can only follow the plot and do her best to keep the royal family, him, and herself alive. Yet along the way, she slowly learns about mortal love, affection, and hatred.
Years later, Jiang Zhi is held captive by him in a dungeon, her body battered beyond recognition. Unable to stop herself, she asks, “You hate demons so much, yet in the end, you still relied on a demon core to claim this world. You keep me locked up here because you believe I'm a demon, but aren't you one too?”
The young emperor's eyes are bloodshot, his gaze full of regret. “Why? Why couldn't you just wait a little longer, until after we were married?”
