Reborn in the Apocalypse, Clinging to My Ex

A genuinely enjoyable read. Both main and supporting characters have mouths, and the trust between partners and teammates is very strong. Those in power are intelligent, patriotic, and righteous. Main and supporting characters are decisive in seeking revenge, adhere to the principle of ganging up, and do not engage in the "Calabash Brothers saving their grandfather" or "forgiveness" scenarios. There is no self-righteous savior complex.

I followed the series straight to the latest update and overall thought it was great. The characters' personalities and other aspects were all very appealing, especially their lack of overly compassionate nature and tendency to resist moral constraints. They were all very individualistic. So far, I haven't found anything wrong with them. I hope they continue to be so decisive.

First: Neither the protagonist nor his companions are saints. In the apocalypse, the weaknesses of human nature are magnified. Saints can hardly protect themselves and may even drag those around them down with them, which means being generous at the expense of others. Second: After being reborn, the protagonist is very aware of potential crises. He plans ahead and prepares backup plans. He doesn't gamble everything on revenge just because of hatred. Instead, he fully considers reality before deciding whether or not to seek revenge. He is very rational. Thirdly, the romance is straightforward and uncomplicated, without any unnecessary twists or turns. The relationships are clear and simple, making it completely heartwarming to watch! Highly recommended!

As expected, the 9-point or higher rating is well-deserved. After reading several books with 8-point ratings praising them to the skies in the comments, I was ultimately turned off, realizing how accurate the online reviews are. The author's writing is excellent. Judging from the early chapters and the later ones I skipped, the focus is mainly on the post-apocalyptic human system and the construction of living areas—a unique and rarely explored perspective. However, I still prefer stories that primarily focus on fighting zombies and growing stronger; they're more enjoyable to read, so I left. Another point is that the early chapters mostly focus on the protagonist's cheesy romance, with little development for other characters. As someone who enjoys ensemble casts, I didn't quite get it. Nevertheless, the author's writing is still very good, and those who like this kind of setting can read it without worry.

The plot is sincere, and while there's a slight bittersweet feeling in the beginning (except for physical injuries and illnesses, of course), it doesn't last long. After they reconcile, it's sweet, and there aren't any major misunderstandings between them, since they both have mouths👄👄👄 (and even if there are misunderstandings, they're quickly cleared up). The two main characters are also very appealing, super sweet, super doting, and super adorable. It's a little bit tame, but there are still plenty of kisses, and the atmosphere between the friends is warm and cozy. This is a very good post-apocalyptic novel. It doesn't have an overabundance of saintly compassion, nor does it depict a ruthless and merciless protagonist. He maintains his principles from beginning to end, proving that only principled people can avoid getting lost in the apocalypse. He doesn't become arrogant because of his special qualities. He not only has a loving and considerate partner, a top-tier and well-coordinated team, but also a group of trusting companions. In the end, he takes revenge himself, and everything is developing in a positive direction. It's probably the best way for an ordinary person to live in the apocalypse. If you love a flower, let it bloom in a safe place. In the end times, do what you can.

The author has such strong moral values, I love it!!! This passage almost made me cry. "The demand for antidote serum is enormous. Even if the purification ability is useful, draining you dry would be a drop in the ocean. Your ability can deal with zombies, so you are hope, not the final answer. You can't use it directly." There was no betrayal, no departures, no misunderstandings, and no splits within the team. I love reading this kind of story; both the main and supporting characters have their own voices, and the side couple is so sweet!!! I'll only feel better when you're here. A decent post-apocalyptic novel. After the protagonist is reborn, his thoughts and decisions are all well-thought-out, avoiding any impulsive acts of taking revenge alone. He handles everything appropriately. The zombie-fighting scenes aren't particularly numerous; the focus is more on the struggles between various bases in the post-apocalyptic world. The main couple's romance isn't particularly angsty; if there is any, it's their breakup before the apocalypse. But it wasn't a breakup due to a broken relationship; it was more of a helpless situation. Both are incredibly love-struck, and after the breakup, neither considered rekindling their relationship; their feelings were purely mutual until they got back together. In their past life, the protagonist became a zombie, and the other found him and fed him raw beef dipped in his own blood—a truly extreme example of being love-struck. In the end, he sacrificed himself to avenge the protagonist. There are quite a few secondary couples, and almost everyone in the main character's team has a romantic partner, though they aren't given too much attention and don't overshadow the main story. In short, it's a good read when you're looking for something to read!
