Princess Rongyang learns that Wentai Yue and her four female ancestors were cursed by an evil hairpin: they were denied familial affection, suffered heartbreak in love, and met tragic ends.
To break the curse, she travels back to the eras in which her ancestors lived and changes each of their fates.
This novel contains five stories. Below are summaries of what happened before their fates were changed.
Story One: Li Qianxiang was an orphan who grew up alongside Dan Gui at the Solitude Garden. They understood and loved each other, and should have had a beautiful future together. But Gui longed to rise above his station and resolutely went off to war. Faced with a choice between life and death, he abandoned Qianxiang to seek a better match. Qianxiang gave birth to a daughter and died full of resentment.
Story Two: Lu Tang, Qianxiang's daughter. As an adult, she married Wang Anyuan, a fallen nobleman. When Rongyang was defeated, Anyuan took his wives and concubines to the enemy nation as hostages. To secure his own safety, he gave Tang to a wealthy merchant of the enemy court. Years passed, and Rongyang emerged victorious. Anyuan returned home with his wives and concubines, but the Wang family had fallen even further than before. To restore the family's fortunes, they offered Tang to a powerful minister. Tang refused and died after stabbing herself with a hairpin.
Story Three: Wang Qixiao, Tang's daughter. She was deeply attached to her stepbrother. Their stepmother noticed and chose suitable partners for them both. Qixiao married, but her heart remained with her brother. Her husband learned the truth and became violent. When her brother heard of it, he wanted to take Qixiao away. Their elopement was discovered, and her husband beat her to death.
Story Four: Yan Pai, Qixiao's daughter. She and the Crown Prince fell in love. After he ascended the throne, he took Pai as a consort, but no longer cherished her. The other consorts bullied Pai, while he looked on coldly and scolded her for being weak. Heartbroken, Pai ran away. He searched for her everywhere, intending to depose the empress and make Pai his empress instead. The empress flew into a rage and killed Pai, who died in despair.
Story Five: Wentai Yue, Pai's daughter. Despite her father's objections, she resolutely married Tao Zhuo. Zhuo was treacherous and had an affair. When Wentai Yue confronted him, he plotted against her and set fire to the princess's residence in the night. Wentai Yue perished in the flames.
Note: Wentai Yue did not actually die. Her soul arrived in the underworld, where her journey to change the past began.
The author's writing is good, and the plot and chapter titles are good. I hope that the author will publish more books in the future with more words in each chapter. I want to learn more from the author. The author who insists on updating daily is the best. I hope more people will read it!!
From the introduction, it seems that there are several stories. The first story is quite heartwarming. The second story should be the descendants of the protagonist of the first story. I am looking forward to it.
The writing is good, the narrative is not exaggerated, and the protagonist is not a perfect character. He is a little vain and jealous. It is very realistic and just like the people around us. I hope the author will update it.
The heroine in each life is both unfortunate and lucky. It's a very poignant story. I hope you don't miss it.
