Getting into Character: Veteran Film Emperor Vs. Rising Star

“Jiang Nanfeng. Nanfeng, the south wind that knows my heart and carries my dreams to the western isle.” “Liang Bai. Not boiled.” At their first meeting, rising star Jiang Nanfeng and veteran actor Liang Bai got into a cultural showdown. The actor clearly lost. “What were my parents thinking? I've been in the industry for over ten years, and I still have to explain that my name isn't Liang Baikai.” After the meet-and-greet, actor Liang Bai tossed and turned in his hotel room, completely baffled. He even considered changing his name. Clearly, that cultural showdown had broken him. “Just go to sleep, bro. You weren't famous for your culture in the first place. Your bandit chief, played just like yourself, was iconic! Do you really think that pretty-faced young star can pull it off?” His assistant, He Bi, twisted the knife in his idol's heart at just the right moment. Meanwhile, Jiang Nanfeng was getting an earful from his manager, Wang Yue. “Nanfeng, I know you look down on him, but he's got a lot of solid, serious-drama projects under his belt. As a rising star, you'll have to change course eventually. It won't hurt to build a good relationship with him now. We have to tie you two together for publicity on this variety show. Stop scowling all the time. You need to get into character, understand?”
