Handbook of Poisonous Chinese Herbal Medicine

In clinical work, many medical workers lack a correct understanding of the toxicity of traditional Chinese medicines. They generally believe that most traditional Chinese medicines are directly derived from raw medicinal materials. Therefore, they believe that they have low toxicity and a high safety factor. As a result, injuries to human internal organs (such as liver, kidney, heart, and brain) caused by taking Chinese herbal medicines occur from time to time. So far, our country has no unified regulations on the concept of toxic traditional Chinese medicine. There is neither a unified concept nor a unified standard, which has seriously affected the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine. Clarifying the definition of toxic Chinese medicines, researching and summarizing relevant information and data, objectively and comprehensively reflecting the possible clinical adverse consequences of toxicities and adverse reactions of Chinese medicines, clearly indicating the therapeutic and toxic doses of toxic drugs, and proposing reasonable medication guidance for the application of Chinese medicines and the understanding of clinicians. This is not only an inevitable requirement for the development of Chinese medicine, but also a requirement for Chinese medicine to be accepted by the world. In order to better popularize the toxicological knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine, allow traditional Chinese medicine to maximize its positive energy, and allow traditional Chinese medicine to make greater contributions to human health, the author selected more than 200 commonly used and relatively commonly used Chinese herbal medicines from my reading notes, but are toxic or have certain toxicity, including those that have not been clinically discovered yet. Drugs that have obvious toxicity, but are toxic in animal experiments, and decoction pieces that have not been found to be toxic, but the chemical monomers they contain are poisonous drugs, briefly introduce their main functions, focus on introducing their toxicological knowledge, compile it into a volume, and strive to make a small contribution to the standardization of traditional Chinese medicine, and use this information as a reference for clinical workers.
