Bian Que, Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine

This novel offers a detailed account of the bumpy yet industrious life of Bian Que, the ancient founder of Chinese medicine. Bian Que's original name was Qin Yueren. Born into a poor family, he was kind, hardworking, and respectful toward his elders. These qualities caught the eye of Chang Sangjun, a reclusive master, who took him to a cave to study medicine and swordsmanship.

He withdrew deep into the mountains to cultivate himself, then emerged from the cave to make a name for himself across the land.

After mastering medicine, Bian Que rose from obscurity to earn the love of ordinary people, the admiration of the scholar-officials, and the favor of the ruler. Yet he never let success go to his head or forget his humble origins. He continued to sympathize with the common people, treat the sick, and offer his healing skills to the world, never charging the poor for treatment.

Master Bian Que will always be revered.
