A Collection of Short Stories: Fantasy Worlds

Tragic Romance Heroine: I’m a wage earner in the Tragic Romance System, a character whose job is to fill in the plot. I used to be tormented by the tragic romance hero’s characterization. How could anyone be such a scumbag? But money is hard to earn, and work is hard to stomach. The job still has to be done. Believe me, our experience has taught us how to handle melodramatic tragic romances: The hero’s relentless pestering only makes the plot more dramatic. Once the story is finally filled in, a formulaic tragic romance is born. It may not seem all that tragic, but it’s a tried-and-true formula for a female-oriented tragic romance, and it works like a charm. I believe it’s only a matter of time before I dominate the KPL and become Employee of the Year. Sometimes I wonder if anyone could really believe this stuff. It’s just too absurd. Then one day, the System malfunctioned. After dying for love, I failed to withdraw immediately and ended up stuck at the novel’s conclusion, where I saw the real-world comments: “My ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend has a problem with her corneas. Should I give her mine?” “Of course! Then your boyfriend will feel guilty forever and stay with you forever.” “Then you can disappear and become the moonlight in his heart, just like in the novel...”
