Hey, Underclassman, I Heard You Like Me

The first time they met was at a food court not far from campus. He smiled and said, “Hello, senior.” She didn’t linger, just greeted him and left with her friend… The second time they met, she and another friend had just picked up a package and were heading back to their dorm when he said, “Hello, senior.” Her friend asked who he was, but she couldn’t remember him at the time, and once again, nothing came of it… Later, during interviews to promote alternate committee members to full members, she was one of the interviewers. She looked at the resume in her hands, where the applicant had listed the Publicity Department as his preferred department. She looked up at him. “I see you’ve chosen the Publicity Department. If we need you to join another department, would you be willing to transfer?” He looked her straight in the eye. “I wouldn’t agree to a transfer”… Much, much later, she finally asked him, “Why wouldn’t you agree to a transfer?” He said, “I’d been plotting to get close to you for ages. I was attracted by your looks, and it was love at first sight…” (This story is entirely fictional. Any resemblance is purely coincidental.)
