When Qi Wenhan was seven, his great-aunt came from Jinling to visit his grandparents in the capital. She brought along a little cousin, too. His mother told him the girl was named Baozhang, that she was only six, and that both her parents had died. She was pitiful, so he mustn’t bully her.
His little cousin was chubby, with big eyes and red lips. Her favorite treat was poria cakes. She seemed timid and didn’t like to talk. But behind his back, she was wicked. She threw leaves into the pond where he kept his red-tailed koi, and stuffed a whole poria cake into the mouth of his Persian cat. The koi nearly died from eating the leaves, and the kitten nearly choked to death.
Qi Wenhan couldn’t stand his two-faced little cousin, so he spilled ink on her skirt. Seeing her snivel and cry without daring to tell anyone made him very happy. He kept scolding her, pulling her braids, and shoving her onto the gravel path. He pinched her cheeks hard and called her a little widow brat.
His little cousin neither cried nor made a fuss. She quietly went home with her grandmother. But little Wenhan no longer had anyone to bully.
Then, eight years later, he saw his little cousin again, and everything had changed…
I don't know if it's over yet
