In the Imperial Palace

Cheng Yanwan hanged herself. She had long since given up on living. She heard her maid Shaoyao crying out beside her, and the hurried footsteps of a man outside. He was clearly frantic. Cheng Yanwan could hear the desperation in his calls... She wanted to laugh, but she no longer had the strength. She thought that if only she had never married Zhou Jing'an, her father would not have died, and she would not have suffered so much... She wanted to tell Zhou Jing'an that she would never love him again. But she could no longer say the words...

Reborn into another life, Zhou Jing'an had fallen for that lovely girl. But why had she suddenly grown cold toward him...?

Author's note: This story follows the customs and traditions of the Song dynasty, but its dynasty is fictional, so please don't get hung up on historical accuracy. Just enjoy the story.

Emm... The prequel is told through Cheng Yanwan's own account. The rest will be written in the third person.
